Low Cost AR Soft Cases
Well, over the holidays I decided to play lego with my AR. I added a 4 rail handguard, green laser, flashlight and scope to it. With the Vortex Strikefire I already had on it, it no longer fits in the soft case I use to take it to the range. Can anyone recommend a low cost (under $50) soft weapons case that can hold a carbine length AR with an optic and accessories? As a second question, how do you place and attach the momentary switches for lasers and flashlights? I've seen forward grips with slots for them. But, I've also seen them attached to the rails. I would prefer to attach them to the rails, I just looking for ideas on how to do this. |

Oh, For Crumb's Sake!
Ever wonder why so many people in the Commonwealth countries are scared by the thought of their neighbor owning a gun? To my knowledge, there aren't many BBC outdoors shooting shows...but there's "news" like this. I give you an interview with Mark 'Chopper' Read c. early-90s, also picked up by our own bastion of journalistic integrity, Hard Copy. Note the terrifying 10/22. Sweet JEsus! One example? Sure. Moreover, I haven't watched Commonwealth television in more than a decade. Regardless, we all owe Tom Knapp and his bunch a great debt of gratitude. Never let anyone tell you what gets broadcast doesnt really effect what people think. |

Why are there non-carbine rifles without integral bipods and butt stock monopods / butt spikes?
I can understand rifles made for only shooting from a bench, or perhaps short AKs and ARs. But any rifle that might be used at long range... why wouldn't it have basically a built in unfoldable bench rest system? Sure, most of them you can easily attach a Harris bipod to. But that's so much more cumbersome and less elegant than the integral bipods of the FAL and HK91. The lack of rear monopods blows my mind more. (Accuracy International calls them "butt spikes".) I can't believe HS Precision doesn't even seem to make a stock with an integral rear monopod. Fortunately Accu-Shot makes a monopod that attaches to a rear sling swivel stud (and provides another for a sling), so that covers my 700P pretty well, but not my FAL. |

Are You America's Top Shot? Bourjaily: Are You America’s Top Shot? Can you shoot? Are you in shape? Are you a character?
If you can answer “yes” to all three, you might be the contestant Pilgrim Productions is looking for to appear on the History Channel’s upcoming “America’s Top Shot.”
Pilgrim – producers of “Ultimate Fighter”, ”Dirty Jobs” and “Ghosthunter” – needs to cast 16 shooters. One will eliminated each week in a marksmanship challenge until the last man or woman standing claims the $100,000 prize. Because this is a History Channel show, weekly competitions could feature any projectile weapon ever made, from atlatls to assault rifles. |

Group Pimping
The day before yesterday I was working-up a load for the Remington US Model of 1903, (Springfield.) The group I got was unbelievable so I had to see if I could duplicate it. Here are the results. ( Kinda big pics. ) |

Two big thumbs up! m_fallenangel stated & boy how I agree Any serious handgunner should occasionally practice one handed shooting as though the off-hand is wounded or injured, and that turns the 1911 into a very small club without an extended slide release.I know I had mucho problems doing this after my rotator cuff op. Heck I've worked on this for 49 years now and I'll keep on going... & preaching this, it might just save a life. Current Mood: surprisedCurrent Music: Ad Astra - Amethystium |

A female friend of mine asked the question wondering if she should go semi-auto or revolver for her first pistol. Someone responded: "If I could have only one? I'd get the revolver just because of the dependability issues. Round misfires? Pull the hammer back manually and you get another one. If that happens at a bad time in a semi-auto, you're screwed. I don't think awkward reloading is an issue...you should never need more than two or three shots." (she mentioned reloading a revolver because she has found that she shoots better left handed) I really hopes she ignores that person. |
